Before you act on this

- If you rent privately and have not claimed the Rent Tax Credit, claim it in myAccount; you can go back four years.

- CalculatedPension contributions come off before income tax, up to the age-related limit (15%–40%) on earnings up to €115,000.
- AssumptionA married couple is treated as one income, jointly assessed. Two incomes widen the 20% band by up to €37,500.
What could change this
- A second income in a married couple — it increases the 20% band, which this does not model.
- Benefit-in-kind such as a company car or health insurance, which adds to taxable pay.
- Other credits you may be due: medical expenses, flat-rate expenses, home carer, incapacitated child.
- Self-employment income, which pays Class S PRSI and is taxed through a return.
